tain is like “I want garak to live a miserable life, surrounded by people who hate him”

dude, this bright-eyed little starfleet twinkie just crossed enemy lines and broke into your house to save garak’s life

I’m not quite sure your plan is working, buddy

I mean… nothing says Tain can’t kill or have Julian arrested for whatever after he makes sure Garak survives…

he’s got no jurisdiction to do anything to julian except kill him, which would bring down starfleet on his head. i think what he says about wanting garak to be miserable is at least partially true, but he also intends to keep garak as a loyal asset embedded in the station and is basically openly delighted that he’s getting close to a commanding officer. it’s the best he can hope for at this point - garak already disgraced himself, and even if his exile wasn’t directly related to that kind of behavior, i doubt tain is unaware of his son’s proclivities.

but it’s actually quite smart of julian to barge into tain’s living room and act so bold - i don’t think he actually thought it through much at all, because the boy simply doesn’t fear death, but it demonstrates that garak has friends on the station who are at least somewhat aware of who and what he is, and aren’t worried about it. he’s made connections there, and people actually care whether he lives or dies. tain can’t just jerk him around like a puppet on a string and discard him when he’s done without people noticing. it significantly changes the stakes of the game for tain, and who KNOWS what would have happened down the line if julian hadn’t basically gotten up in his face and engaged in territorial posturing over this sad exile.

So apparently Ask a Mortician has gotten told this video “violates community guidelines” for showing “non-graphic dead bodies without educational intent,” “excessive law enforcement without educational intent,” and “blood and gore.” (Spoiler: none of those things happened.)

It’s a documentary on a disaster you may never have heard of, the USS Eastland. It’s done with incredible quality, research, and heart, and it’s all but been delisted. YouTube is refusing to give answers as to why. (I have my suspicions, which are “she came down pretty hard on a shitty corporation in this video and it hit just a liiiiittle close to home.”)

Caitlin has asked that if viewers enjoyed the documentary or found it helpful, we share it directly with others. So I am here. Y’all know how important history is to me.

Make this important to you too.
