Beauxbaton’s alumni knew they were going to Hogwarts, Scotland, but because of their laziness (I think) they didn’t bring heavy clothing (also due to their weather). Maybe when the flying chariot was approaching Hogwarts, the alumni started to feel cold and they tried to cover themselves as they could. Simple.
