You know every show that the premise is like “people find out ghosts/monsters/demons are real and are charged with stopping them” appeal to me way more now as a post-graduate not because I believe in ghosts more or whatever but because can you IMAGINE just being handed a job that you don’t even need to apply for? Like just being told “basically there’s this bad thing and all you do is make sure it doesn’t do what it wants” that’s just customer service baby and I worked that for 6 goddamn years! Just TRY getting past “I have a job to offer you” before I can jump down your throat agreeing.
some idiot with a dumb ghost-hunting name who joined the Cause because they love the paranormal: oh fuck oh shit this is really scary guys I’m having second thoughts
me, who knows that if we run away I have to apply to like, a real actual Jobbe again: wakey wakey demons it’s this or retail so guess who’s got nothing to lose
It suddenly struck me today that Cardassian style is kind of Art Deco-esque. I imagine it’s partly because the designers used Egyptian art and architecture as inspiration for Cardassian design, and that was an influence on Art Deco. Also, there are a lot of large, official-looking (and kind of weird-looking) buildings in the US which are Art Deco.
There’s something about the use of angles and pointed features, and the way windows and doors are often framed with carvings feels very Art Deco-ish toeme.
These juxtapositions are just to show some of the similarities I can see. Here are some other Art Deco stuff that I feel looks Cardassian, just on their own:
imagine watching Star Wars in theaters in 1977 and pointing at Darth Vader boarding a ship with Stormtroopers and then choking some guy, and exclaiming THAT’S CLEARLY JESUS CHRIST, THAT’S WHY I’M INTO THIS
Love Star Wars. Love the Bible. I love the story about how Jesus *checks notes* cut off his son’s hand.
remember when satan took jesus out into the desert for 40 days to tempt him and satan was like “hey murder these younglings” and then jesus murdered them and then john the baptist cut off his arms and legs
Cecil. She/her. During the day I sit in libraries staring at books. During the night I write queer fanfiction with a historical slant.
Some not-so-random facts: Gay space lizards are the best lizards. Star Trek is my life. I have too many DS9 ships. Classic Who and the Eighth Doctor Adventures make me grin stupidly. Kelas Parmak is the best. I will defend historically accurate portrayals of Alan Turing to the last drop of blood.
