His voice was getting harsher now, although it was hard to say how much of it was genuine spite and how much of it was just the sound of his circuits fizzling. ‘Doctor… I could tell you what’s really “wrong”. I could tell you what you did to my life. What happened to me after you left me. I could tell you all the damage that’s been done to me over the last two thousand years. All the waiting I’ve gone through. I’m older than you are, do you know that? And I don’t even think I qualify as human any more. Your fault. Believe me, I could tell you everything.’
There was a pause. The Doctor presumably didn’t know what to say.
‘But I won’t,’ the Remote man concluded. He suddenly sounded incredibly tired, as if he’d worked himself into a frenzy but couldn't keep it up. ‘I can’t be bothered. Living like this just wears you down. I don’t want to hurt you any more. I want to see you dead, that’s all. I want to get this over with for good. I want to see your head up on my wall, so I can relax for once in my life. You understand?’
