Mr. Brightside and Doctor Who
I have my own headcanon where the music video for Mr. Brightside is actually a Doctor Who story. Fitz Kreiner (played by lead singer Brandon Flowers) is sent, by the Eighth Doctor, to investigate weird rumors of mind control at a brothel owned by a eccentric and dangerous old man (played by Eric Roberts, who is the Master in the Doctor Who 1996 movie). Fitz falls in love with one of the women at the brothel, who the old man also has his eyes on. Fitz realizes that the old man is actually the Master, who had escaped from the Eye of Harmony and was able to keep his body although, once again, is failing him. Fitz realizes that the Master is brainwashing the patrons of the brothel in an attempt to use them to commit nefarious deeds on his behalf. Fitz and the Doctor are able to break the mind control and burn the brothel to the ground. The Master, still trapped inside, is caught in the flames, but is able to escape, which leads into the Big Finish audio, Mastermind.
What a perfect post. I had to go rewatch the music video, and it works terribly well. Very in character.
I couldn’t help be intrigued by the scene where Fitz and the Master (well, you know what I mean) play backgammon. Is the Master trying to gain his trust? Snare his mind? Or has he taken a leaf out of Fenric’s book, and is trying to defeat Fitz and the Doctor in a more civilised manner?

Why is six afraid of seven?
Because seven sees the fate of the universe as a game of chess that must be won, no matter the cost, going as far as to manipulate people, even those he loves, to carry out what he deems morally wrong but ultimately necessary, and even seems to enjoy it at times. Six pretends to be, at most, annoyed by seven, but in actuality, he is absolutely terrified at what he will and must become. And that is why six is afraid of seven.
