Hello, yes, can I interest you in a kindly, old, dissident Cardassian in these trying times?
Doctor Bashir is great and all, but Parmak has been much more reliable and a soothing balm to our poor lizard, ex-Obsidian Order, out of exile, now-a-Castellan friend Garak.
You don’t really get a description of what Parmak looks like in McCormak’s post-canon DS9 novels, but I’ve latched on to the fandom’s general description of longer white hair, thinner, older, and friggin’ adorable. Anyone else feel like if Parmak was on earth during the 70s he would have been at Woodstock?
Garak certainly has a type though, doesn’t he?
(kicking myself that I saved my finished csp file before I could save a lineart version)
bashir: figures out he’s trapped in a holodeck simulation because section 31 forgot to program in his best friend’s recent injury
riker: figures out he’s trapped in a holodeck simulation because the kid pretending to be romulans made him married to his favorite computer-generated porn star
every day i think about how at the end of by inferno’s light miles tells julian that the changeling that replaced him was “easier to get along with” like oh my god. julian has just spent a month in a dominion prison camp and one of the first things his best friend says to him after he escapes is That. what the fuck
I think this is a bit of a cultural difference that people are not understanding, and I get it, because if you are an outsider to this culture it might seem cruel. But it’s fine. They’re an Englishman and an Irishman. That’s how they talk to their best friends, and the more they like each other the more they insult each other. “He was easier to get along with” is Miles sincerely telling Julian he’s glad he’s back, saying he loves him, and being supportive, and Julian 100% gets it, too.
TLDR: Miles would not have made such a flippant remark to Julian UNLESS they were very close friends. If they were not as close Miles would have used kinder words. And Julian knows it.
Cecil. She/her. During the day I sit in libraries staring at books. During the night I write queer fanfiction with a historical slant.
Some not-so-random facts: Gay space lizards are the best lizards. Star Trek is my life. I have too many DS9 ships. Classic Who and the Eighth Doctor Adventures make me grin stupidly. Kelas Parmak is the best. I will defend historically accurate portrayals of Alan Turing to the last drop of blood. Likes and asks end up in the name of @apolesens-otheraccount, because Tumblr doesn't have a way of changing which blog is your primary one. Nothing happens over there - this is the one to follow.
