One of the things I appreciate about Julian as a doctor is that he’s willing to use more of what we’d consider traditional or folk medicine. (See: Kira’s makara herbs, Kasidy’s Tarkalean tea.) I think sometimes in sci-fi there’s an emphasis on shiny future medicines, and don’t get me wrong, I would love some of those. I just like the little acknowledgements that sometimes you don’t need a multisyllabic drug. Sometimes the basics, or what our ancestors used for generations, are perfect.
Anyway, I think this sets Julian apart from other Trek doctors, and I like it.
Yes! “You’d be surprised just how often traditional medicine turns out to have genuine value”, as he tells Quark in “Rivals”.

People on here always talk about if they were in the star trek universe what part of Starfleet they would want to be in and??? I don’t know about you but all I wanna be is this guy from ds9
I want nothing more than to be a Klingon man who owns a restaurant and sings folk music for my customers on the promenade. What a life.

Me, trying to hype myself up for A Stitch in Time: It’s not ok to be jealous of Kelas Parmak- a fictional character- for Julian-another fictional character-, it is not ok to be jealous of Kelas Parmak for Julian.
We can have both!
