Consider: Trill symbionts are pretty large. They take up a lot of belly space. Joined Trills can carry children but perhaps its more dangerous with so much less room for both. Maybe Trill infants are naturally much smaller than other humanoid babies to compensate. A child of Trill-alien heritage however would likely be of larger size, unsafe for a joined Trill to carry unless they want their organs, baby, and symbiont all smushed. So logically, the alien partner would be the best candidate to carry the kid (external artificial womb and surrogate options notwithstanding).
