Just got myself some new Big Finish audios as a treat. I’m looking forward to hearing more of Eight and Charley (even if I know that by the time I finish the arc, I’ll probably be crying in a corner).

Rating/spoilers G. Set sometime during Father Time, but no spoilers apart from the existence of Miranda Dawkins.

Word-count 927

Summary The Doctor takes Miranda stargazing, and thinks of home.

Author’s notes I went to look at the Perseid meteor shower tonight, and was inspired to write something. (Eum, more Earth arc fic, anyone…?)

The universe hangs by such a delicate thread of points, it’s useless to meddle with it.

Unless, like me, you’re a Time Lord.

Alex Scarrow talks about his new Doctor Who short story ebook ‘Spore’ - the enduring mystery of the Doctor, the “wiggle room” writing the Eighth Doctor gave him, and the geek thrill of hearing the Doctor speaking his words.

I’m rather excited about this. A new Eight story!

A Rose With A Thorn

In honor of the Eighth month, here is my final tribute to the beautiful Eighth Doctor—whom I love so very, very much. Despite the traumatic circumstances of his regeneration (he woke up freezing in a morgue, for goodness’ sake!), he is bright, enthusiastic, honest, and one of the sweetest and most passionate Doctors ever. Though, at times, the pendulum too easily swings to a darker, colder nature full of snark and weary of battle. Over time he is broken by pain and loss, driven to the edge of insanity and heartbreak, until at last the Time War destroys him. Every Doctor since has had to cope with the memory of what Eight endured…and usually ends up following a similar pattern.

I’ve tried to capture that transition, from his beautiful, golden beginning, to his broken, hardened, world-weary (and much disputed) end. Lots of symbolism, besides. The butterflies because he has an actual butterfly room in his TARDIS! *___* The silhouettes in the middle are my failed attempt at portraying the Doctor and Morbius’ fall in the BigFinish audio drama “The Vengeance of Morbius”. And Gallifrey and blood because…yeah.

EIGHT NEEDS MORE LOVE, PEOPLE! More recent Doctors have stolen all the (very much deserved) attention, so this is my shoutout for Whovians to remember Eight! Do not overlook him, he is wonderful! I’m praying the 50th will have mention of him and stir the depths of the well for interest. Seriously, give Eight half a chance and he’ll run off with your heart! …and drink all your tea.

SO I’ve been reading Interference (25th EDA book) and I also recently went to a lecture by Mark Andrews (director of Brave) about visual storytelling and storyboarding.

and this moment really sticks in my mind from that book so I though I’d try and illustrate it and then found out that I don’t have the skills or the patience to do that so here’s what I ended up with.

theese are usefull practice with the tablet since im not very good at using it

I just finished reading the first book of Interference.  The bits with the Doctor in the cell was one of the scariest and more interesting bits, and this is an excellent illustration if it. (The circular Gallifreyan and the equations and everything!)

AW YISS thanks THANKS A LOT

I should really do more EDA Illustrations because Im getting better with my tablet these days

You should! I really enjoy the EDA art you’ve done this far.

It’s another scene from Camera Obscura by Lloyd Rose. It’s one of my favourite EDAs, and Anji is one of my favourite companions, and I’ve hardly seen any fanart of her.

Poor Anji - she really doesn’t want to be there. (Camera Obscura art <3!)

“Scherzo” is a chilling exploration of sensory deprivation and emotional overload. Not one of my top favorite episodes, but certainly one of the most memorable, in which the Doctor is at his most cruel and most desperately honest and even vulnerable. It is also, while seriously disturbing, a beautiful and intensely haunting experience. Every Eighth Doctor fan must eventually come to grips with Scherzo…and those who have know exactly what I mean. XD  It affected me so much it warranted its own painting.
