Sketches of the Eighth Doctor, whom I love so ridiculously much! Also featuring Charley (Charlotte Pollard), the companion he refused to give up even though the laws of time and Time Lords demanded it.

I adore these two. The world needs more Eight and Charley! More Eighth Doctor, period. He is one of the sweetest, most adorable, enthusiastic, charismatic and passionate Doctors ever, though the pendulum can too easily swing to a darker, colder nature full of snark and weary of battle. And need I mention he is also played by PAUL MCGANN! *___*

I highly, highly recommend the Big Finish audio dramas. They are utterly amazing and addictive, and are keeping me sane through work and the wait for the 50th.  And there’s no better time than now to start listening! Big Finish has discounted Eight’s first season to only $3 an episode!!  I recommend starting at the beginning with “Storm Warning“  ^__^

EIGHT NEEDS MORE LOVE, PEOPLE!  Give him a chance and he’ll run off with your heart. And drink all your tea.

Eighth Doctor and VIOLET?

I’m about to finish the The Gallifrey Chronicles and the entire EDA series, but I came across something interesting in To The Slaughter:

The first time we hear about the Doctor’s colorblindness is in Unnatural History:

So has he been colorblind (to violet and ‘ultraviolet’) all this time, ever since the Unnaturalist changed his biodata? 
I’d assumed that it was fixed at some point, but can a change to the biodata be fixed? 
Are all the subsequent Doctors colorblind too? 
Since regeneration is about genetic renewal and doesn’t mess with biodata, I’m inclined to think so.

Well, at the end of Unnatural History, when they’re in the Unnaturalist’s lab, the Doctor does fix it:

And with a sharp motion he reached up and twanged the strand. The unseen restraint jerked against the tip of her knife, and suddenly the strand snapped back to its normal position.

The Doctor gasped, then let out a relieved sigh. ‘I’ve got the violet back.’

However, the Faction continues to mess with his biodata, so perhaps he loses it again? I quite like your idea, and I’m sure there’s a way to argue it, but that quote complicates things.

Employee: That is not under the jurisdiction of this department!  You need to go to the Department of Communications Enabling Devices.

Doctor:  Well, surely you could—

Employee: No!

Doctor:  But there’s one right there on your desk.  A pencil, with #2 stenciled on it’s side.

Employee: I am the only one authorised to use that pencil.  If you want to borrow it, you need a permit!  You can get one from the Department of Necessities with Daily Routine (Excepting Lavatory Paper).

Doctor:  Lavatory paper has it’s own department?

Employee: Of course!

Doctor: Just explain the way to the Communications Enabling Authority.

Employee: That’s the Department of Communications Enabling Devices!

Doctor: I’m sorry.

Employee: Communications Enabling Authority couldn’t help you at all.

Doctor: Can anyone here help me at all?!

Employee: That question must be referred to the Rhetorical or Genuine Questions Office for a decision before any action can be implemented.

Doctor:  I’m just going to take a couple of aspirin now.  Is there an Office for assistance in swallowing, liquid, sub-division?

Employee: There’s a water cooler in the hall.

Doctor:  Thank you very much.

Employee: You’re very welcome.

Wait, isn’t aspirin poisonous to Time Lords? Is this a Gallifreyan version of “this situation is far too annoying, I’m going to go find a noose”?

Not only a headcanon, but actually canon. To quote the Data Core: “The Doctor could play the violin, harpsichord, flute, transverse cello, harp, banjo, theremin, wobbleboard and the piano. (PROSE: The Year of Intelligent Tigers, Eater of Wasps)“

The Year of Intelligent Tigers has lots of violin-playing Eight, which makes an already excellent book as close to perfect as it possible.

Argue back if you feel you can do it - otherwise, don’t beat yourself up, shrug and repeat that people are pretty thick. (How can anyone say such a thing!? They obviously haven’t seen anything of him.)
