Kardasi awaits below! If you don’t speak it quite as fluently as Julian and Garak do, hover over the text for a translation.

He held as still as he could as Garak’s cool fingers daubed the pigment on to his skin, posture perfect, head tilted. There was a very clear way to do this. And by God, he was going to get it right.

Excerpt from The Fall: The Crimson Shadow by Una McCormack:

The two men embraced. Parmak, when he could speak, did so with a tragic mixture of relief and reproach.

“How could you do this to me?”

“I’m sorry,” Garak said, his voice thick. “Will you forgive me?”

“Forgive you? Oh, Elim. When have I ever not forgiven you?”

The Adventure of the Empty House (of Enabran Tain)

Garashir, ~3700 words.

Garak is more ill-tempered than usual during their lunch-date and leaves early. At first, Bashir blames it on himself and the Earth poetry, but when Garak stop tending to his shop or answering Bashir’s calls, he becomes concerned.

Includes Cardassian physiology, Garak being obstinate and Bashir being a Shelley nerd.

As a seamstress (an amateur one, but nevertheless - not a day goes by without me doing some sewing), I can’t see measuring tapes becoming obsolete. I know they have high-tech scanners in DS9, but there are some low-tech solutions that I don’t think will ever go out of fashion. A measuring-tape is fast and reliable - a scanner might malfunction, measure the wrong bit accidentally etc. I think this is an example of something we also see in engineering tools and medical instruments in Star Trek. They want things to look futuristic, so they go for unidentifiable gadgets instead of spanners or screwdrivers or stethoscopes or reflex hammers. Of course new tools will appear as technology progresses, but some of the basic stuff will stay the same, because they’re already filling their niche just fine.

In conclusion: it’s a travesty that we don’t see Garak with a measuring tape around his neck in the show.

Some soft garashir for you all….. 1) inspired by little achievements by @almaasi which is just so incredible and watching that video was instant serotonin and 2)the cover for the garashir playlist I made

THEIR GLASSES ARE SO CUTE ;u;

and I always imagined their “costumes” as being stand-ins for something similar but not the same, except seeing them drawn with those collars (so very adorably, I might add) makes me think, HMM, what if Cardassian fashion included pointy collars these days…

I find the trend of people using Garak as an example of what Cardassians are like as a whole to be hilarious when literally almost every single Cardassian who sees Garak has the immediate visceral reaction of, “Oh god, not this bitch…”

“Cardassians are all fanatically devoted to serving the state” based solely on that one time Garak wouldn’t shut up about his favourite novel as if a former KGB agent wouldn’t be super into Soviet propaganda

We need fic about this.

Because no one expected DS9 to be so strategically important as it turned out to be, the original senior staff is laughably unqualified. Like, arguably the most qualified people are Dax and Obrien, as they have the most years of experience, even then Jadzia was freshly joined and Obrien is a non-com, technically not even an officer. Sisko wasn’t even a ranking captain, Kira had no formal training whatsoever, and Bashir literally graduated like two weeks ago.

#wait#are you telling me#that the person on the station#with the most intergalactic military experience#is#is GARAK? [x]

That is exactly what OP is saying.

I’d always thought Garak went on this mission knowing he was going to attempt to commit genocide, but seeing these gifs, no. He definitely made up his mind in that moment.
