stiiilll working on how to capture the likeness of ol Garak here.
The vehemence with which other Cardassians use ‘tailor’ when addressing Garak makes me think that word is a homophobic slur in Cardassian.
not in kansas anymore - The story, some names, characters, and incidents portrayed in this production may be fictitious. Almost no identification with actual persons (living or deceased), places, buildings, and products is intended or should be inferred, unless deliberately pointed out otherwise

In multiple fics as well as in some novels, I’ve seen some references to Bashir removing Garak’s implant. However, in The Wire, they say very clearly that the implant can’t be removed or it would serve no purpose (and that does not seem like one of Garak’s lies to me). Memory Alpha claims that Bashir goes to see Tain “seeking information on Garak’s cranial implant so that it could be removed” (in the entry on Enabran Tain), but that is incorrect. He goes to see him to ask for specifications about synthesising Cardassian leukocytes. As far as I can tell, at the end of the series Garak still has the implant in his brain, although it’s deactivated.
Is this just a case of mass-misremembering of canon or is there information I’m forgetting?
My fic “The Raid” now up on AO3!
Pre-canon Garak/Parmak - both sad and lovely. If you haven’t read it, do. If you have read it, read it again. Either way, show it some love.

Elim Garak has dedicated his life to the Obsidian Order. His service to Cardassia is everything, until he meets Kelas Parmak. The closer they become, the more the experience changes Garak. Suddenly the things he has taken for granted are not as obvious as they once were, and he finds himself questioning the values that have always defined him.
