Now, I’m not suggesting we be motivated by anything as vulgar as an enormous finder’s fee, but I just thought you might like to bid adieu to our 17th straight month of winter and join me in sunnier climes for a week.
Sea Fever! My favorite poem in the world, especially as the season ends each year and I get nostalgic. I hope I’ve done it justice.

did I ever tell you bout the time I made a dude rage quit in a /k/ star wars thread?
some dude made one of those “WHO WOULD WIN?” generals, and it was 5 Panzer Tanks vs an AT-AT and one dude kept sayin the obvious AT-AT but most of us are SW fans so we were all “nah, the shields only protect from blaster fire” but this dude INSISTED “ACKSHUALLY, ITS SUPER CARBO-STEEL, IT SAYS HERE ON THE STAR WARS WIKI, ITS SUPER STONG DURRRR” and I fuckin blew his ass out with one simple image…
and then he said “The films arent canon” and everyone in the thread immediately shit on him til he stopped posting
The weirdest guy I ever met in a church was this boy who referred to “Buzz Aldrin and his husband” going to the moon. I was completely baffled, and when I asked if he’d misspoken, he got really angry and accused me of being deliberately ignorant of the facts. It turned out that he was somehow comvinced that Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong were married. It took five Wikipedia articles to convince him otherwise.
That is the best moon-related conspiracy theory I’ve EVER heard.
maybe the real moon landing was the husbands we found along the way
you know since the cdc is now recommending we wear non-medical grade face masks, we might as well all bite the bullet and make plague masks to stuff with dried herbs that will keep out the miasma that carries the disease
Time Traveler: Wait so miasma is real? Us: No, but actually yes
it’s interesting to me that miasma theory was wrong but led to a lot of technically effective practices
wearing a plague doctor outfit that basically acts as a rudimentary hazmat suit? yeah, that might help somewhat
avoiding areas where an outbreak is rampant? probably a good idea, if unnecessarily broad sometimes
clean up waste to avoid a buildup of bad air? wrong reason; right thing to do
they were wrong, objectively wrong, about what caused disease, and even then the power of human observation was such that they still figured out some of the right behaviors to adopt
Cecil. She/her. During the day I sit in libraries staring at books. During the night I write queer fanfiction with a historical slant.
Some not-so-random facts: Gay space lizards are the best lizards. Star Trek is my life. I have too many DS9 ships. Classic Who and the Eighth Doctor Adventures make me grin stupidly. Kelas Parmak is the best. I will defend historically accurate portrayals of Alan Turing to the last drop of blood. Likes and asks end up in the name of @apolesens-otheraccount, because Tumblr doesn't have a way of changing which blog is your primary one. Nothing happens over there - this is the one to follow.
