I have a few times but I cleaned my blog so they’re no longer there but I do have this doodle lying around because I was originally going to make a short comic about Sarek and Spock’s relationship but I got sidetracked lol. Might continue that someday.
Bones defending Spock is something we actually see fairly often through the series. Sometimes it feels like a “no one can pick on him except me” sort of thing, but really, Bones is lawful good. He’s good about keeping Jim reigned in with all the pressure the captaincy puts on him, and keeping him from lashing out against his crew.
He’s the Captain’s closest confidant. He’s the one Jim goes to when things get rough. And Bones has been known to take a beating from Jim himself, too.
These two work well together. They’re best friends, they have been for more than half their lives at this point. Bones knows Jim better than he does himself sometimes, I think. And I think Jim knows that, too.
We’ve seen Bones defend Spock before, go out of his way to protect Spock. Not just because it’s in the best interest of the ship, not just because it’s in the best interest of keeping Jim at his best, but because that’s part of his job.
The three of them know the gives and takes of their relationship really really well and in this scene Bones demonstrates how damn well he knows the two of them and I just can’t overstate how essential Leonard McCoy is to the triumvirate okay
Cecil. She/her. During the day I sit in libraries staring at books. During the night I write queer fanfiction with a historical slant.
Some not-so-random facts: Gay space lizards are the best lizards. Star Trek is my life. I have too many DS9 ships. Classic Who and the Eighth Doctor Adventures make me grin stupidly. Kelas Parmak is the best. I will defend historically accurate portrayals of Alan Turing to the last drop of blood. Likes and asks end up in the name of @apolesens-otheraccount, because Tumblr doesn't have a way of changing which blog is your primary one. Nothing happens over there - this is the one to follow.
