I had a dream that they were making a DS9 sequel series, and there were rumours/indications that they might be based on or at least inspired by the Cardassia novels. Like, Garak was Castellan. A really odd promotional photo had turned up in the Parmak tag (posed by an otherwise unknown account, making people think it was leaked to the fandom on purpose). There was some debate whether that was actually Parmak, because the Cardassian in the shot looked all wrong. They didn’t look particularly old, and different people in the fandom had different opinions what the person’s gender was.
Then they released a trailer, and it was even weirder. Both Garak and Bashir were married to much younger women (like Ziyal-age), with no explanation why. They were both essentially lamp characters, with little to no personality or even lines. It appeared that the Cardassian in that promo shot that had been leaked as being Parmak was actually supposed to be Garak’s quite young wife. But the series was based on McCormack’s novels… so not only had they replaced Parmak with a woman, they’d also made sure to pair up Bashir with a girl for no apparent reason other than ‘heterosexuality please!’ The whole series just felt like them digging their heels in, hoping they wouldn’t have to do have anything queer.
So, Paramount, don’t get any ideas.

Commission for @arinaca-st!
I usually don’t take background commissions, because I don’t feel confident enough. But I love this result!

You can tell a lot about about a ferengi by whether or not he carries an umbrella.
Most ferengi materials are hydrophobic so there’s no reason to cover them, but expensive off world fabrics arent, and they’re get ruined in the rainy climate. Having an umbrella or a poncho to protect your clothes is a sign of wealth.
(Of course there are some men who will wear their expensive clothes out in the rain and intentionally damage them to show that they can just buy more )

happy first contact day! Thought I would re-cap Solkar’s thought process during this momentous historical moment since vulcans kiss with their hands.
