I’ve been trying to motivate myself to watch Voyager, and failing. It was the first Star Trek series I ever watched, at about eleven, but other ones soon eclipsed it. There are lots of things I remember not liking, and stuff that, when I’ve rewatched the occasional episode, hasn’t sat right with me, but I want to rewatch at least some of it, as I’m (hopefully) going to a con where Voyager is one of the themes.

So please give me your Voyager episode recommendations. Which are your favourites?

This started as a warm up sketch and next thing I knew I spend the whole afternoon painting this. I usually suck at realistic art so I have no idea how it happened

Damar has a certain romanticism about the past. He could use a dose of cold water.

Okay, hear me out. Holo technology can simulate all kinds of sensory input. It can do sight, sound, touch, even smell and taste, but also, it can simulate internal senses. You can go kayaking and hang-gliding, and it feels real. So if we accept this… imagine a Supermario holo-program. You jump on Goombas, you punch bricks, you collect coins and turn into a flying squirrel.

Also, please imagine Bashir and O’Brien on their way to the holosuites, only Bashir is wearing dungarees and a very bad fake moustache and O’Brien is wearing a strange spherical hat with spots on it…

The humiliations abound after Garak agrees to climb a holographic mountain with an athletic, charming, solicitous Starfleet doctor. Why didn’t he try harder to resist when Doctor Bashir suggested it?

My latest fic!

“Here. Eat this.”

“What?” Garak turned and was assaulted by a long, curved item waggling in his face.

“It’s a banana,” said Doctor Bashir. “A fruit. From Earth. I think.” He directed the offensive thing towards his own mouth and bit off the tip.

That’s a banana?” Garak wrinkled his nose as a sickly sweet odour assaulted him. The fruit was a thoroughly unappetising prospect. Pale and curved and cold and stringy, with strange rubbery flaps that hung down over the doctor’s hand, it evoked none of the warm feelings that fresh banana bread, a favourite of Bashir’s (and now of Garak’s) did.

“Yesh.” Bashir could perhaps be forgiven, just this once, for speaking with his mouth full, as they were halfway up a mountain. A holographic mountain, to be sure, and not a particularly wild one, even for Earth, but it was a very good hologram. The mist tumbling in the distance, the odd flying creature hovering overhead, as well as the gravel crunching under the feet and the cheery greetings of their fellow hikers, were all impressively authentic. None of the flatness or echoes of the inferior programmes Quark kept behind his bar. This programme had been selected and procured by Bashir personally, and, Garak got the sense, with no little effort.

“It’s got loads of potassium.” Bashir, having swallowed his mouthful of fruit, took a second bite. “Whish will come in handy when we get to that bit.” Bashir nodded at the rocky path ahead of them, which stretched jaggedly upwards, nearly vertically at some points, to the mountain’s peak.
